These shoes are quite nice. I first took interest in Rouge at my local shoe cobbler who had two pair in size 81/2; way too small for me but putting a pair in my hands allowed me to feel the quality of their build. The leather used is a soft type that is pre-worn for suppleness, and stained to have a antiqued, silverish finish. The soles are soft rubber and comfortable to walk around in (make sure you wear thin or dress socks as the ball of the shoe is somewhat narrow, but not terrible). The grading of good instead of excellent is the lacing of the boots. I am disappointed that Rogue did not use steel grommets for the lace holes to thread through, and that makes tightening the shoes difficult. Over all, these are great shoes, and I would recommend buying them to anyone that likes a casual style of dress boots. January 13, 2013
